Four teachers from Lincoln Elementary School in
Beaver Dam were awarded a grant from the Fund For Teachers (FFT) Organization,
a national not-for-profit that enriches professional growth of teachers by
supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe that
will have the greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their
students and on their school communities.
The organization collaborates with the Wisconsin Department of Public
Instruction to administer grants throughout the state. Of the 318 schools that were selected
nationwide to receive the FFT grant, 15 schools were from Wisconsin, of which
Lincoln Elementary was one. Having earned a Wisconsin DPI School of
Recognition award this year made them eligible to apply for the
grant. Grant writers Julie Sether, Judy Hein, Becky Gundacker, and Sarah
Grey will travel to Scotland to conduct action research by observing primary Scottish
classrooms, interviewing students, parents, educators and administrators, and
exchanging ideas with Scottish colleagues regarding behavior and academic
achievement. Upon their return, the team will work together over the
summer to write a report that will include their observation and
data. This information will be presented to the Lincoln staff, PTO, Board of Education and students in the fall. This group is excited to have been
selected for this amazing growth opportunity. Congratulations!
